LR091743 is a timing chain tensioner fitted to the timing gear of 2.0 L Ingenium petrol engines. It applies a controlled preload to the timing chain to limit slack caused by normal wear, thermal expansion and valve-train loading, which helps reduce timing deviation and audible chain noise. The tensioner mounts at the timing gear assembly and works with the chain guide surfaces to keep the chain position stable across the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets; inspect the timing system where abnormal noise or timing symptoms are present, as worn tensioners or guides will require replacement to restore correct chain behaviour.
